SUNDAY GATHERINGS - 10am & 6pm ALL WELCOME
Vision - youth group
Having fun! That’s the most important thing as far as we are concerned. We work hard to help others, but we enjoy each other’s company and have fun while we do it. We go to the theatre, ten pin bowling, out for dinner and many other things.
We take an active part in the life of Holy Trinity Church in Thorpe Hesley and support activities that others organise.
We help to raise funds for those less well off than ourselves including social evenings for the Shiloh homeless centre in Rotherham and for Christian Aid.
So if you are between 11 and 18 years of age, want to do something a little different and would like to join us, you would be very welcome. The group is led by Zoe Ellis, assisted by Liz Scott, Jayne Hague & Joanne Varnam. For more information, contact any of the leaders. You can get in touch via Jan Hardy.

new leader - zoe ellis

This September I will be taking over and running Vision. Vision is a youth group for 11 to 18 year olds, we meet fortnightly on a Wednesday evening and we do a range of activities, we have trips bowling and walks as well as activities carol singing and charity work.
I am training to be a teaching assistant and I am currently working towards my level 3, I enjoy walking, singing and learning new things. I was confirmed in June 2010 and I am a member of the church choir. As vision leader I hope to bring all my skills into the work that we do, my aims being to ensure all the members have fun and also learn important lessons from the sessions that they can take away and develop their faith.
I feel it has been very important to the young people that have attended over the years. Vision has a fun and friendly environment for young people to grow and develop socially, emotionally and spiritually. It allows young people to develop their confidence, where they feel comfortable and are able to express their opinions and themselves.
I think it's been a great year, and I would like to think that all the young people, as well as those leading VISION would agree with me. Well, what have we done? It's been a real mix - but with three main themes running through the year:-
1. Having fun!

2. Taking an active part in the life of Holy Trinity Church in Thorpe Hesley. This means that we support activities that others organise.

I have a lot of activities planned for the new term the first few sessions are as follows

21st September – treasure hunt around the church

5th October- activity session on the Ten Commandments

19th October – Cinema or bowling trip*

2nd November – activity session based in the community centre

23rd November – activity session based in the community centre

7th December – carol singing

21st December – Christmas story topic and party

Sessions start at 7:30pm and finish at 9:00pm and most sessions cost £2

(except those marked*)

New members are always welcome;

I look forward to seeing you all in the new term

Zoe

3. Helping to raise funds for those less well off than ourselves.

We are all very proud to look back and remember that last year we organised Social Evenings for three occasions:- for Easter House Project , Romania; for Shiloh , Centre for the homeless in Rotherham ; and for Christian Aid. Wow! Did we really do all that? Hard work at the time , but a good laugh too.

But we need your help again! One of the proudest moments for VISION was when we sent over 50 shoe boxes , filled with gifts , to Operation Christmas Child. We would like to take the lead on this again, this year. So, we need you to save those new shoes boxes for us. The ones with separate lids are easier for us to wrap, but all will be used. If you have spare time in the Summer, we would love it if you could knit hats , gloves , and scarves to go in the boxes. Judging by last year , there are some very talented people in Thorpe Hesley. Thank you , again.
